New certification rules for charging system for electric vehicles

The new certification rules for CQC-Certification of connection set of conductive charging (charging system) for electric vehicles were published last year and have become effective this year:

  • GB/T20234.1-2015 Connection set for conductive charging of electric vehicles – Part 1: General requirements
  • GB/T20234.2-2015 Connection set for conductive charging of electric vehicles – Part 2: AC Charging Coupler
  • GB/T20234.3-2015 Connection set for conductive charging of electric vehicles – Part 3: DC Charging Coupler

The old Implementation Rule CQC11-462196-2012 will be replaced by the new standard CQC11-462196-2016. The related products are: Connection set for conductive charging of electric vehicles (029001).

Companies, which already obtained the CQC-Certification, should apply for the new CQC-Certification. The conversion of the certification should be finished before 1st May, 2017.

The main changes are:

  1. The rated current of AC charging coupler should not exceed 63A and the Voltage of DC charging coupler should not exceed 1000V DC.
  2. The vehicle coupler, power supply coupler, charging coupler (power supply plug + car plug) are considered different certification unit.
  3. The product description declared the certification requirements of switching equipment, charging cable and other key components.
