The GB/T 27630-2011 Guidelines for air quality assessment of passenger vehicles for air quality in passenger compartments of vehicles was released in 2011 China’s Ministry of Environmental Protection and State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine. Since 2012, this standard is effective and might be used as a voluntary guideline for concentration limits.
Based on this voluntary standard, a compulsory GB Standard is currently revised and expected to be published for 2018. However, there is so far neither a precise content nor a publication date for the mandatory GB Standard GB 27630-20XX.
As part of the Chinese governmental plan Environmental Protection Law for reducing pollution, the GB 27630-20XX aims to enhance air quality in passenger compartment. The existing voluntary GB/T 27630-2011 and the planned mandatory GB 27630-20XX determine limits for eight components of the interior car air. These eight components, called VOCs (volatile organic compounds), might be found in products such as plastics, glues, textiles and rubbers.
As soon as the mandatory standard GB 27630-20XX have been published, OEMs and their supplier must produce low-emission parts for vehicles. However, a transition period for this GB-Standard is expected during which OEMs and suppliers can adapt their production.
The current standard GB/T 27630-2011 has the following contents:
It specifies the concentration limits in new cars for pollutants such as benzene, toluene, xylene, ethylbenzene, styrene, formaldehyde, acetaldehyde and acrolein. Furhermore, it refers to the following standards:
